2019 End of the Year Celebration

Celebrating a great year of AIGA with free pizza and new board members! We’re looking for a President, Vice President, Graphic Designer, Marketing Coordinator, and Secretary/Tresurer to run UWM’s graphic design student org, AIGA-UWM in the 2019-2020 school year. If you want to meet amazing designers, be a leading part of the Milwaukee design community, get more involved and help host events for design students, join AIGA! The time commitment is 1-3 hours/week depending on your position. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity!

We're connecting graphic design students with our favorite designers at Inside the Industry: Graphic Design. This panel discussion lead by AIGA VP, Kennedy Imhoff, will offer an insightful and intimate conversation about graphic design as a profession. If you're craving a real-life connection to the industry, join us as we discuss important aspects of a graphic design career including landing your first job, agency life, finding your niche, entrepreneurship, going freelance, and career advice from the experts.

The Designers

Whitney Anderson, Freelance Graphic Designer at Wit And Co.

Whitney is known for her vintage hand lettering creations along with branding, illustration, and print materials. She has worked with companies including The Sunday Standard, Disney, Lululemon, Kickapoo Coffee Roasters, and you'll catch a glimpse of her business card on moo.com. Whitney was recently featured on Adobe Live for a three-day live design tutorial.


Zac Jacobson, Partner & Graphic Designer at Three Headed Design Co

Zac is a branding mastermind. He combines his illustration, hand lettering, and distinct style to brands including Pabst, McDonald's, Harley Davidson, and his designs for Bavette La Boucherie's website has been recognized for multiple awards. In 2017, Zac opened Three Headed Design Co with Joe Huber and Trefor Shorey.


Nydia Maurás-Jones, Creative Director | Partner at Odvant Creative

Nydia is a graphic designer, brand strategist, and entrepreneur. She started Odvant Creative, a design and branding agency, with Dena Nord in 2015. She is a Graphic Design Mentor at Visioneer Design Challenge, on the Board of Directors at Islands of Brilliance, and is featured in Women's Entrepreneurship Week. Odvant Creative is known for its contribution in community outreach and art eduction. Odvant's clients include CRE8MKE, Nine Below, The Pfister, and Marcus Restaurants.


Brandon Morreale, Art Director at Northern Ground (and amazing photographer)

Brandon has worked for small agencies, big clients, and challenges you to expect better design. He is an adjunct at Carthage College teaching web design and is the Digital Director for AIGA WI. Brandon has over 10 years of experience in design and digital. He's the Art Director of the stand-out web design and digital agency in Milwaukee, Northern Ground. 


Kevin Sparrow, Associate Design Director at Bader Rutter (and amazing photographer)

Kevin is a Milwaukee-based photographer servicing clients all around the globe. Kevin specializes in commercial, portrait and editorial photography. In 2007 he co-founded COG Magazine, an independent quarterly print publication focusing on urban cycling and lifestyle. He traveled the world documenting cycling culture through words and his camera, promoting and creating content for COG. Oh, yeah. He is also a designer and art director at Bader Rutter.

Synergy 2019: A student-run, interdisciplinary Art Show

We are excited to announce our annual event, Synergy, that will take place on March 1st at the Kenilworth Square East! lt is our mission to connect artists and designers together, provide networking opportunities, collaboration, and introduce diversity. This year's selection of artists is impressive to say the least! Our purpose for hosting the show is all in the name; Synergy. We bring together students from across Milwaukee, and a wide range of disciplines, to showcase and sell student artwork. The show duals as a fundraiser for the AIGA – UWM Student Group and is an opportunity for young artists and designers to participate in a professional art show, which allows them to gain experience and networking skills. 

Join us for an evening of incredible emerging artists, drinks, appetizers, and networking with Milwaukee professionals.

Enjoy a cocktail and explore the world of Alternate Realities with inspiring presentations by Dena Nord, partner at Odvant Creative, LLC, Custom Reality Services, and Christopher Willey, a UWM Digital Studio Practice Lecturer. Discover what augmented and virtual reality are all about first hand by testing out their equipment during the event.
